EATON RAPIDS MEDICAL CENTER

PROJECT SUMMARY

The project goal for Eaton Rapids Medical Center was to improve emergency patient care and to raise the Hospital’s community image. The project was to be the first phase of the master plan to improve patient care and flow into the Hospital. The new 23,102 square foot Emergency Department addition included a new emergency drop-off location that was restricted from street view, exam rooms with improved quantities to support no waiting service and were also developed into a two story space that was made comfortable and of high quality finishes. The original department was only sized for one ambulance, but with the new addition, the Hospital now allows for multiple ambulances to join under a covered entry. The ambulance entry also enables direct access to service garages, separate entity E.M.S. offices and is located for an optimum relationship with new Major Trauma Rooms. The glass elements introduced into the design were used to enhance the recognition of entry and to contribute a more professional impression. The overall design simplicity yielded construction savings efficient enough to allow for a full basement to be included for future non-clinical use.
