RESCUED TREASURES RETAIL STORE

PROJECT SUMMARY

The new Rescued Treasures Retail Store was created after the original building had been lost to a fire. The new 9,500 square foot building was made to be larger than the original, including in it a one level masonry structure with a basement. A year later, the structure was made even larger with a 6,825 square foot second addition of warehousing and donation drop off. It was of particular necessity to remain sensitive to the historic design of the fire station that is placed adjacent to the site. Due to the impressive outcome of an appropriate historic design concept, the project was awarded the 2010 Kalamazoo Historic Preservation Commission Award of Merit.
